Rum has a rich history in the USA

These days, ordering a rum drink is as common as ordering a Bud Light. You may think that’s only a recent phenomenon, but The Bachelor Guy takes us back in the early days of America, back when Paul Revere was swigging rum before he did his famous ride. Back in the days when Benjamin Franklin was writing poems about rum. Or even just a half century ago, when JFK was sipping a daiquiri watching election results.
Check out even more examples of rum in our history, along with a couple cool recipes at The Bachelor Guy.
The Men Behind Jack, Jim, Johnnie, Jose

Have you ever wondered who Jim Beam is named after? What about Jack Daniel’s, Jose Cuervo, Captain Morgan, Johnnie Walker and others? Wonder no more. See Mental Floss for clues on all of these real men.
I’m disappointed they didn’t include one of my favorites, Sailor Jerry, who was a famous tattoo artist and amateur rum maker.
